  • School Trip Cancellations

    Published 17/03/20

    Dear Parents/Carers,

With the ongoing COVID 19 situation, the following school trips/events up until Friday 3rd April 2020 are now either cancelled or postponed.  At this point, the community vaccination team are still planning to come into school on Wednesday 25th March 2020 to give the ACWY Meningitis vaccinations to Year 9 students (see update below).

18th        Year 10 Drama Workshop at Grantham Guildhall

19th        Year 10 Geography Field Trip to Nottingham

20th        Year 11 Oxbridge Conference at LSST

    25th        RSPCA Reading Trip

    26th          Year 7 Parents Evening

2nd          Year 7 Private Peaceful English Trip

We have been in contact with the immunisation team at Community Immunisation - Leicester and been advised that the AWCY vaccinations for our Year 9 students are still due to take place on Wednesday 25th March 2020.  They are reviewing their vaccination schedules on a daily basis and will contact us the day before they are due in school to confirm if the vaccinations are going ahead.  If you have any immediate concerns you should contact NHS 111 or you own GP.    We realise that this may be unsettling and if you are at all concerned, please seek professional medical advice.

    Year 10 Drama Workshop

The workshop at Grantham Guildhall has been cancelled.  There may be an opportunity for us to rearrange this in the Summer term and Mrs Watson will update the Year 10 Drama group and parents in due course.

    Year 10 Geography Fieldwork Trips:

We have taken the decision to postpone the field trip to Nottingham on Thursday 19th March 2020.  We are working closely with our transport providers to rebook the date.  The field work will be rescheduled and therefore we will not be processing any refunds.  Ideally, we plan to reschedule the trip in the Summer term but we will review the situation immediately after the Easter holiday (w/c 20th April 2020) and we hope to be in a position to update you about this trip and the coast visit planned for June 2020.

Year 11 Oxbridge Conference at LSST, Lincoln.

This event has been cancelled by the organisers.

    RSPCA Reading Trip.

This event has been cancelled by the organisers.

    Parents Evenings

Thank you for your cooperation around the cancellation of the Year 7 Parents Evening on Thursday 26th March 2020.    We will review the situation immediately after the Easter holiday (w/c 20th April 2020) and we will hope to be in a position to update you.  As the calendar is set for the academic year, there may be a “knock-on” effect for other afterschool event so please bear with us as we work through the arrangements.

    Year 7 Private Peaceful

Nottingham Playhouse Theatre cancelled the performance today.  We are working closely with them and will be organising a full refund to anyone who has already paid for the trip.  Please bear with us as we process the refunds which may take up to 14 days to complete.

Looking ahead, the Year 11 Prom date is booked for Thursday 18th June 2020.  The deadline for payment is 3rd April 2020.  Thank you to those who have already paid for their ticket.  We will review the situation immediately after the Easter holiday (w/c 20th April 2020) and will provide an update towards the end of that week.  We realise that this may be unsettling but can reassure you that we will consider carefully all the implications before making a final decision as to whether the event will go ahead as planned.  For those who would still like a Leavers Hoodie, payment must be received by Friday 3rd April 2020 in order for us to process with our suppliers.

All trips, visits, events and fixtures planned for immediately after Easter will be reviewed and we will send another update when we have more details.

Thank you for your continuing support and patience.

    Yours sincerely

    Mr L S Newton – Headteacher
